Eastern Music Festival, Greensboro, NC

Joy is a dedicated, enthusiastic musician with twenty-seven years professional teaching experience, and twenty-six years experience as a symphony orchestra musician. In addition to orchestral performance, Joy has a private teaching studio, and teaches and performs at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina in the summers. She has been on the faculties of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas and Towson University in Towson, Maryland. During the fall of 2021, she is guest professor of horn at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. Joy was honored to be the Visiting Professor of Horn at her alma mater, The University of Georgia, in 2014-2015.

Joy has been a featured guest artist at several events, including the upcoming Horn Day at North Carolina School of the Arts in March, 2022. She was most recently a guest artist at Shenandoah Conservatory’s Brass Day in November 2021, and at the Southeast Horn Workshop at The University of Georgia in February of 2018. Other events include The University of Southern Mississippi's Horn Day in 2014, and The University of Virginia's first annual Brassfest in 2015.

Joy received her musical training from The University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Music in Education, and received a Master of Music in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Her teachers were
Dr. Jean Martin-Williams and Erik Ralske.
